I had a reservation set. However, I came 30 minutes early and asked if there were any open tables in the hostess was very nice and actually checking and being able to see me and another party member. Our food, our entrée and our drinks came out very quickly. It is extremely tasty and I am happy to have visited.

Umai indeed! I got the Veggie Ramen (B11) since I've been focused on reducing my meat consumption. Of the handful that I've tried in the last year or so, I found this particular veggie ramen to be one of the most flavorful ones I've ever had. The noodle was the wavy kind, but it was thinner, which I actually liked. The noodle was chewy and firm (though I wish I knew the exact amount of firmness so I could specify the same firmness at ramen places that allow you to make that choice). The soft tofu had a great texture, and I liked that the broccoli also had flavor. By the end though, I did feel the dish overall was a little bit saltier than I preferred. Funnily enough, the last time I came here was in early March 2022, and the dish I got then, the Oxtail Ramen, started off saltier than expected, though I still liked it. Overall, I find the ramen here to be quite flavorful (though slightly salty), and I like that they provide all reusable dishware and utensils to make a more pleasant casual dining experience. Solid ramen spot in the Daiso side of Japantown in the old Mifune Done location. The menu has a good selection of appetizers, but the real focus is on ramen and aburasoba. There are also some rice and udon dishes. I came for a late lunch around 1:30 on Wednesday and surprisingly the restaurant was half full. We got seated quickly and ordered immediately, as I was starving. I shared the chicken karaage ($11.80) with my friend and ordered a bowl of the Umai Combination Ramen ($21.80) for myself, since I wanted to try both their pork rib and oxtail. The karaage was decent. I appreciated that it didn't have a thick layer of batter on it but was still crispy. The combination ramen was MASSIVE. Probably the biggest bowl of ramen I've ever eaten. I'm surprised I managed to finish it all, but it definitely filled me up for the rest of the day and I wasn't hungry for dinner later. My favorite things about the ramen: the broth was very flavorful, and I absolutely loved the chashu slice as it was melt-in-your-mouth soft. Unfortunately there was only one small slice of it; I wish there was more. The oxtail piece was tender and I enjoyed it a lot too. What was less memorable about the ramen: the noodles were very meh. I was really excited for the pork rib but was underwhelmed as it wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping. Also the egg was just okay... at least it was soft boiled but there wasn't much flavor to it. Would've been good to marinate it in soy sauce for more flavor. I'd like to come back again to try the new item on their menu, the aburasoba!

We dropped by to have lunch around Umai Ramen House. When we got there, the restaurant was still devoid of diners, so our four-person party was easily accommodated. The hostess/cashier/server were so sweet and pleasant; she patiently listened as we inaccurately ordered entrees first instead of drinks and was only too kind to not make us repeat our order when we realized our error. The appetizers were served quickly and it all tasted fresh; the entrees were also well-seasoned and expertly prepared. Everything we was absolutely delectable, we ate every morsel because it was all so delicious. We had a truly positive experience and we can't wait to try this place again when we come back in to town.
